It may be an old fashioned notion, but I think it valuable to know G code as part of evaluating the results you get from your CAM system. Most CAM solutions that run 'inside' Solidworks require it to not be older than two versions (though some, like HSMWorks will admit informally to working with three versions back).Īlso, most of these integrated programs advertise something like "If you know Solidworks, then you know our CAM system" so it would be a good idea to get some experience with Solidworks first at least get to know the interface and fundamental part/assembly creation.
